Solar Observing Campaign 2018

Latest observations added at the top.

Images taken with Lunt LS60 or Lunt LS100 in single stack or double stack mode as indicated near the image.
Recording with ASI174. Typically 10% to 20% of 750 / 1000 / 2000 frames stacked in AutoStakkert!2 processed in Registax 6 and Photoshop CS2.
Time-lapse videos with Python script and ffmpeg.

2018-08-25 19:09UT and 19:12UT. The Solar minimum and smoke from wildfires in the region did not allow for much solar observing in this year's campaign. The sky was still hazy today but we had a few active areas on the Sun. First two shots at prominences at the Sun's edge. The images were recorded with single stack filtering which clearly manifests itself by the edge of the photosphere pushing through the chromosphere.

2018-08-25 20:24UT We also had a bit of activity on the solar disk.

For about 1:45hrs a sequence of images was recorded at about 1image per minute and combined into a time-lapse. There were substantial changes in the seeing quality thus the video is quite unsteady.

2018-01-28 20:15UT This is the first observation from the 2018 campaign. The day time seeing condition had some good moments today. There where however some variations as well so the images are between good to below average. There was no surface activity so no sense for a full disk shot. An nice edge prominence however was recorded for more than 1hr and a timelapse video was created.
