Moon Observing Campaign 2020

Latest observations added at the top.

Images taken with 5inch or 6inch APO refractor or 13inch Newtonian
Recording with DMK41 or ASI120MC ASI174MM camera using FireCapture software. Processing in AstroStakkert!2, Registax 6 and Photoshop CS2.

2020-10-20 This evening a crescent Moon with Earthshine was visible from my observing location. Once it got darker the star HIP81941 became visible and it was soon to be occulted by the Moon. The overview image is a somewhat before the event. I took the inset images just before and after the occultation. Click on image for full size.

2020-06-03 04:45UT The Moon's phase was already coming close to full and I wanted to get a few more images done before the illumination angle was too unfavorable. Seeing was average. Showing Details of the areas around Plato, Gassendi and Clavius. (click on image for full size version)

2020-04-04 03:30UT Using the 130mm APO and 3x Barlow a 5x3x mosaic of the Moon was recorded. The recordings of the three vertical stripes (5 images each) were each adjusted for balanced exposure. The brightness of the three stripes was then later adjusted in Photoshop to match each other. Final curves and contrast adjustment was done.

Showing the initial exposure balance.
